Duplication of Certificates
Please note that a duplicate of any certificate will not be issued if a valid police report does not accompany the application, nor if the Title Holder or Owner has any outstanding contraventions.

Reminder IconRemember: The title holder or owner (or proxy of either) of the vehicle must be present to provide biometric verification.

Type IconThe following Certificates can be duplicated in case the original was lost, stolen or destroyed:
  • Vehicle registration certificate
  • Certificate of fitness (COF)
  • Authorisation to purchase registration plates

  • Outstanding offences will prevent you from applying for a duplicate certificates.
  • Title holders may apply for duplicate:
    • Vehicle registration certificate.
    • Certificate of fitness (COF).
    • Number plate authorisation.
  • Vehicle owners may apply for:
    • Certificate of fitness (COF).
    • Number plate authorisation.

Process IconAPPLICATION PROCESS
  1. To avoid filling in forms in the queue, download and print the Vehicle Registration Application form now and complete it before you arrive at the DRTSS office.
  2. Visit your nearest DRTSS office.
  3. Go to the Vehicle Applications Office.
  4. Submit your application at the counter.
  5. A deposit slip will be printed which will indicate the amount to be paid at the bank. No money is to be paid at the DRTSS office.
    • Please verify that the deposit slip is correct and reflects your details as well as an accurate description of the transaction you wish to complete before making the required payment.
  6. Once payment is made, you may return to the DRTSS office with the stamped deposit slip.
  7. Go to the Document Issuing office to collect your duplicate certificate.
Note IconNOTE – Once the duplicate certificate has been printed, the certificate being replaced will be cancelled and become invalid. The original validity period will remain unchanged for the duplicate certificate.
